Arthur White and MERGE
It's been a while since I blogged, so I'm going to make up for lost time.
First, I'm excited to formally release my second album, UNIFY, on Artists Recording Collective! This is a big band fusion album that was recorded individually (mostly) during the summer and fall of 2020. Featuring the music and playing of two of my favorite people, Randy Brecker and Ada Rovatti, this album is also meant to create wider exposure for the San Luis Obispo, CA jazz community - a community that I'm delighted to belong to.
UNIFY is co-produced by the amazing George Stone, professor of audio recording at Cuesta College (and a badass pianist, trumpeter, and composer). George's skill in mixing and mastering is on display, and I couldn't be happier with the result. You're gonna love this record!
Second, barring any major COVID setbacks, Cal Poly will be back on campus this fall, which means we'll return the the stage, as well! Cal Poly jazz will audition soon - jazz bands.calpoly.edu has all your information if you're a CP student and interested in performing jazz at Cal Poly!
Third, I'm thrilled to announce that I have been selected to perform with the MERGE jazz collective, Randy and Ada, and a few special guests at the Jazz Education Network conference in Dallas on Thursday, January 6, 2021, at the Hyatt Regency. We're taking a band from SLO, meeting with my MERGE brothers Justin and Mark, bringing Randy and Ada in, tossing in a few surprises, and it's going to be so much fun! I've also beed chosen to present a clinic on vocal jazz education on Saturday, January 8, 2021, same hotel! I'm honored to represent Cal Poly, SLO, and my family and friends at this great conference.
That's a lot! And, as always, thank you for the love and support! More later!
COVID has contributed to a drastic reduction in shows for all gigging musicians. As things become more stable, more shows will be added. Be sure to check the information below before hitting the road as dates, times and locations can change. SUPPORT ALL LIVE MUSIC! See you there!
